Thiruvona Mahotsavam at Thirumullavaram Sree Mahavishnu Swami Temple in Kollam is a grand annual festival celebrated for 10 days during the Malayalam month of Meenam (March-April), featuring vibrant rituals and cultural events.

കൊല്ലത്തെ തിരുമുല്ലവാരം ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ തിരുവോണ മഹോത്സവം, മലയാള മാസമായ മീനത്തിൽ (മാർച്ച്-ഏപ്രിൽ) 10 ദിവസം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ഒരു മഹത്തായ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവമാണ്, ഊർജ്ജസ്വലമായ ആചാരങ്ങളും സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികളും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.

This is one of the famous Vaishnava temples in Indi and also one of the ancient temples in Kerala. Legend says that this temple is establishes by Parashurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Thiruvona Mahotsavam Thirumullavaram Sree Mahavishnu Swami Temple Kollam Kerala Ten days festival is celebrated with all scientific rituals during the Malayalam month Meenam and Arattu on "Thiruvonam' star, the birth star of Lord Vishnu. This festival is done annually to increase the chaithanya (the vigor) of the deity.

Festival of this temple starts on birth star Atham on Malayalam Month Meenam and ends at Thiruvonam star. There will be a flag hoisting ceremony marking the beginning of the festival. The shrine is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights. This festival lasts for 10 days and the Arattu procession of this temple with the procession of 40 caparisoned elephants is very famous which attracts plenty of people. There will be special poojas and offerings during the festival period. Also annadanam on all days except the last day of the festival and also various cultural programs and folk arts will be there. On the first day of the festival there will be sample fireworks which attract many. On the 8th day of the festival there will be a procession starting from Sree Anandavalleshwaram temple carrying the ornaments for Lord ( Thiruvabharana Khoshayathra) along with percussion music, floats and caparisoned elephants. On the 10th day by evening 6Pm Arattu(holy bath) ceremony starts. The utsava murti of the deity is taken out of the shrine for ritual bathing on the final day. After Arattu there will be an Arattu procession covering the major part of the town. Mean while fireworks starts around 8:30Pm- 9:00Pm known as Kadal Pooravum Vedikkettum. It is a very colourful event that the people from very long distance comes here to see that event. Around 11:30Pm Arattu procession return back to temple. Hence the conclusion of 10 days grand festival.
