കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ ഇളമ്പൽ ശ്രീ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ തൃക്കൊടിയേറ്റും തിരുനാൾ മഹോത്സവവും 2026 ഫെബ്രുവരി 22 മുതൽ 27 വരെ ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. തൃക്കൊടിയേറ്റം, ആറാട്ട്, ഘോഷയാത്ര, സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികൾ എന്നിവയോടുകൂടിയ മഹോത്സവമാണ് ഇത്.

Thirukodiyettu & Thirunal Mahotsavam at Elampal Sree Mahadeva Temple, Kollam is one of the most spiritually vibrant and culturally rich annual festivals celebrated at the temple. Dedicated to Lord Mahadeva (Lord Shiva), this grand celebration reflects the deep rooted temple traditions, devotional practices and cultural heritage of Kerala.
The festival begins with the sacred Thirukodiyettu marking the formal commencement of the festivities and invoking divine blessings for the days ahead.
Throughout the festival, the temple premises transform into a center of devotion, discipline and celebration. Each day begins in the early hours with Palliyunarthal, Nirmalya Darshanam, Abhishekam, Ushapooja and Ganapathi Homam, followed by special poojas, Seeveli, Sree Bhoothabali and various ritualistic ceremonies conducted according to traditional temple customs. Devotional recitations such as Bhagavata Parayanam and Narayaneeya Parayanam add spiritual depth to the celebration allowing devotees to immerse themselves in sacred chanting and prayer.
One of the most spectacular highlights of the Mahotsavam is the grand procession where the deity is ceremonially taken around the temple in a magnificent display of devotion and tradition. Caparisoned elephants, traditional percussion ensembles like Chenda Melam, decorative umbrellas, Thalappoli and beautifully arranged Kettukazhcha create a visually stunning and spiritually uplifting experience. The Aarattu ceremony marks another important ritual symbolizing purification and divine grace.
Evenings are filled with classical dance performances, devotional music, Ganamela, folk arts and community led cultural programs, showcasing local talent and preserving Kerala’s artistic heritage. Annadanam is organized with devotion reflecting the temple’s commitment to service and unity.
