Maha Shivaratri is one of the most revered festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva and at Puthiyidam Sri Mahadevar Temple in Kollam, it is celebrated with immense devotion and grandeur.The temple, situated near the flowing waters of the Kalladayaar River, provides a serene and spiritually uplifting environment making it an ideal place for devotees to observe the auspicious rituals.
The festival begins in the early hours with the Prabhatha Bheri and Harinam Keerthanam invoking the divine presence and setting a devotional tone for the day. Devotees participate in Bhagavatam Parayanam listening to sacred recitations from the scriptures that glorify Lord Shiva and recount his divine exploits.
