The Kumbha Punartham Mahotsavam 2026 at Maravanchira Sree Bhavaneshwari Temple, Kollam is a grand and spiritually enriching festival celebrated with devotion, cultural fervor and traditional rituals. This annual event deeply rooted in Kerala’s rich temple heritage draws devotees and visitors from across the region to participate in sacred ceremonies and community offerings.
The festival marks a special period in the Malayalam month of Kumbham and is renowned for its elaborate poojas, homams, and processions dedicated to Goddess Bhavaneshwari.
The festivities include Lakshaarchana, a powerful ritual in which the divine name of the goddess is chanted 100,000 times creating a serene and divine atmosphere in the temple premises. Devotees also witness the Ganapati Homa, a sacred fire ritual seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha for prosperity, removal of obstacles and spiritual progress.
Another highlight of the festival is the Bhagavathi Seva where the goddess is worshipped with elaborate offerings and traditional rituals. The Brahmakalasha Abhishekam and Kumkuma Kalasha Abhishekam are performed with reverence symbolizing purification, prosperity and divine grace for the devotees and the community.
Community offerings including the Samooham Nivedyam play an essential role fostering a sense of togetherness and devotion among devotees. Cultural programs, Vedic discourses and the Vedakeralam Project inauguration and Veda Vilambaram conference further enhance the spiritual and educational aspects of the festival making it an event that celebrates both devotion and knowledge.
