Thrikodiyettu Mahotsavam 2026 at Punalur Puthiyidam Sree Krishna Swamy Temple in Kollam district is a grand annual temple festival celebrated with deep devotion, traditional rituals, and vibrant cultural programs. The festival marks the ceremonial beginning of the temple’s annual festivities with the sacred Thrikodiyettu symbolizing the commencement of divine celebrations and inviting devotees into a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
The festival is conducted under the guidance of traditional temple authorities and includes a series of sacred rituals such as Ganapathi Homam, Abhishekam, Usha Pooja, Deeparadhana and Athazha Pooja. These rituals are performed with utmost devotion to invoke blessings of Lord Krishna and ensure peace, prosperity and spiritual harmony for all devotees.
One of the highlights of the Mahotsavam is the cultural programs held every day, showcasing Kerala’s rich artistic heritage. Classical art forms such as Kathakali, traditional dance performances, devotional music concerts and Kaikottikali bring life and color to the temple premises. These performances not only entertain but also preserve and promote Kerala’s cultural traditions.
The festival also features major ritual offerings like Pushpabhishekam, Kalashabhishekam and special poojas conducted by devotees as vows. Devotees from various places gather in large numbers to participate in the celebrations making it a spiritually charged and socially vibrant occasion.
A key attraction is the temple feast, where hundreds of devotees are served free meals, reflecting the spirit of unity, equality, and service. The entire temple atmosphere is filled with the sound of traditional instruments, chanting of hymns and devotional energy.
