The Pooram Uthram Mahotsavam 2026 at Uliyakovil Sree Durga Bhagavathi Temple, Kollam is one of the most vibrant and spiritually significant temple festivals in Kerala drawing devotees from across the state.Known for its grandeur and devotion the temple becomes a hub of spiritual energy and community participation during this period.
The highlight of the festival falls on March 2, 2026 coinciding with the Pooram star Uthram when the main rituals are performed. The day begins early in the morning with the Nirmalyam and special Abhishekam ceremonies where sacred items and flower offerings are presented to the deity. Devotees witness the Ashta Dravya Mahaganapathi Homam and Sopan Sangeetham, bringing together spiritual chanting and devotional music to enhance the divine ambiance. Throughout the day, the temple is beautifully adorned with flowers, lamps and traditional decorations creating a mesmerizing setting for worship.
Cultural programs form an integral part of the festival including Bhakti Gana Sudha, Kaikottikali and performances by local artists. The evening features Thanga Anki Charthi and Deepa Aradhana where lamps are lit in devotion accompanied by melodious music and rhythmic percussion.
