The festival begins with special poojas and rituals that invoke the blessings of Lord Subrahmanya. Devotees from various parts of Kerala gather at the temple to participate in ceremonies such as Parayezhunnallathu where the deity is taken out in a procession accompanied by traditional music, drums and other instruments.
