പള്ളിവേട്ട മഹാശിവരാത്രി മഹോത്സവം 2026 വെളിയം അഞ്ചുമൂർത്തി മഹാക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം | Pallivetta Maha Shivaratri Mahotsavam 2026 Veliyam Anchumoorthi Mahakshetram Kollam
Pallivetta Maha Shivaratri Mahotsavam at Veliyam Anchumoorthi Mahakshetram is one of the most spiritually significant and culturally vibrant temple festivals in the Kollam region of Kerala. This ancient temple is unique for the rare presence of five deities worshipped together within a single sacred complex symbolizing harmony, divine balance and universal consciousness
The festival is observed with deep devotion and follows traditional temple customs that have been preserved through generations.
The Mahotsavam spans several days and is marked by an elaborate sequence of rituals beginning in the early hours of the morning with Palliyunarthal, Nirmalya Darshanam, Sahasranamajapam and Usha Pooja. These sacred observances set a devotional tone that continues throughout the day with special abhishekams, Kalabhabhishekam for Sri Mahadeva and Sri Mahavishnu and Sri Bhoothabali rituals conducted with utmost sanctity. Devotees from different parts of Kerala gather at the temple to participate in these offerings seeking divine blessings for prosperity, health and spiritual upliftment.
One of the most anticipated events of the festival is the Pallivetta Ezhunnallathu, a symbolic and majestic ritual procession that represents the divine victory of dharma over adharma. Accompanied by traditional percussion ensembles such as Panchari Melam and Chendamelam, the Pallivetta procession creates a powerful spiritual atmosphere that resonates throughout the region. The Aarattu ritual, performed at the culmination of the festival signifies purification and renewal drawing large crowds of devotees.
The festival is also a grand celebration of Kerala’s temple arts and cultural heritage. Kathakali, Sopana Sangeetham, devotional music, bhajan sessions, folk performances, classical and semi classical dance programs and spiritual discourses enrich the festival nights. Decorative illuminations, kettu kazhcha displays, fireworks and special visual spectacles add to the festive grandeur.
