Melila Pooram Uthram 2026 at Melila Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, Kollam is one of the most vibrant and spiritually enriching temple festivals in the region. The celebrations begin with the Bhagavatha Sapthaha Jnana Yajnam a week-long program of devotional recitations, spiritual discourses, and rituals dedicated to Lord Dharma Sastha. This period attracts devotees from nearby villages and towns who participate in the daily sessions of prayers, chanting and cultural performances, seeking blessings and spiritual guidance.
Following the Sapthaha Yajnam, the temple continues its festivities with the Utsava programs starting from 1st March, which include the traditional festival procession, vibrant decorations and ceremonial rituals. The highlight of the festival is the Sree Bhadrakali Thirumudi Ezhunnallathum Vilakku on Wednesday, 4th March 2026, where the idol of Goddess Bhadrakali is taken out in a grand procession accompanied by rhythmic percussion ensembles, colorful elephants and traditional drumming.
Devotees gather in large numbers to witness and participate in the lighting ceremonies and ceremonial offerings creating a deeply devotional and festive atmosphere.
Throughout this period, the temple premises are adorned with lights, floral decorations and traditional art forms such as Kalamezhuthu, Melams, and Thalappoli, showcasing Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. Special offerings and Annadanam are organized welcoming all devotees to partake in the sacred experience.
