മീനാഭരണി മഹോത്സവം 2026 ഭരാണികാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം | Meenabharani Mahotsavam 2026 Bharanikavu Bhagavathi Temple Kollam
The Meenabharani Mahotsavam at Bharanikavu Bhagavathi Temple in Kollam is one of the most vibrant and spiritually enriching festivals in Kerala celebrated with devotion, grandeur and cultural fervor. This annual festival is dedicated to the goddess Bhadrakali, the presiding deity of the temple who is revered for her protective and benevolent powers.
The festival brings together thousands of devotees from surrounding regions and beyond all seeking the blessings of the goddess through participation in sacred rituals, prayers and traditional ceremonies.
The Mahotsavam features a meticulous blend of religious observances and cultural programs reflecting the rich heritage and artistic traditions of Kerala. Devotees begin their day with sacred poojas such as Panchagavya Kalasha Pooja, Navaka Kalasha Pooja and Sri Bhoothabali Kalashabhishekam followed by Bhagavatha Parayanam where sacred texts are recited by trained scholars and devotees. These rituals are believed to purify the mind and soul fostering spiritual growth and devotion.
A highlight of the festival is the Ezhunnallathu where the idol of the goddess is paraded through the temple premises atop a beautifully decorated elephant accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Panchavadyam and traditional drum ensembles. The Kuthiyottam, a ritual performed by young boys and the Thalappoli, involving girls carrying traditional lamps are significant offerings of devotion symbolizing purity, discipline and surrender to the divine.
Cultural programs form an integral part of the celebration including classical dances, folk performances, Melams, Theyyams, music concerts and dance dramas showcasing the vibrant artistry of Kerala. The festival also emphasizes community participation with devotees contributing offerings organizing decorations and supporting temple rituals.
