This 12 day festival is devoted to Lord Mahavishnu, who is revered as the giver of all desires and the protector of dharma and attracts devotees from across the region to participate in the divine celebrations and rituals.
The festival begins with Nirmalya Darshanam early in the morning followed by the Maha Ganapathi Homam and Bhagavat Parayanam creating an atmosphere of devotion and spiritual energy throughout the temple premises. Each day of the festival commemorates one of Lord Vishnu’s avatars from Matsya Avatar to Kalki Avatar with special Avathara Darshanams, Avathara Poojas, Kalabhabhishekam and other sacred offerings performed under the guidance of Temple Tantri, Brahmashree Ramesh Bhanubhanu Pandarathil and Melshanthi, Sumesh Thirumeni.
The festival also includes Annadanam, where devotees offer food to hundreds of pilgrims, Deepa Aradhana and Kaikottikali in the evenings making it both a spiritual and cultural celebration. Devotees actively participate in these rituals, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, knowledge and liberation as described in the Puranas. The 12 day festival is also marked by the chanting of Vishnu Sahasranamam, mantra archana and other sacred observances that are believed to bring divine grace and remove obstacles in life.
The festival highlights the significance of Lord Vishnu’s divine incarnations Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Sri Rama, Balarama, Sri Krishna and Kalki each symbolizing the protection of dharma, eradication of evil, and guidance for devotees in every age.
