Makam Thirunal Mahotsavam is one of the most sacred and vibrant annual celebrations at Sree Kanyamadam Devi Temple, Kalaykkode, Poothakkulam in Kollam district. Dedicated to the Divine Mother, the temple becomes a spiritual center of devotion, tradition and cultural richness during this grand festival. Makam Thirunal Mahotsavam 2026 at Sree Kanyamadam Devi Temple Kollam Kerala Devotees from nearby villages and distant places gather in large numbers to seek the blessings of the Goddess and to participate in the auspicious rituals performed as per age old temple customs. The festival is conducted under the guidance of the temple Thanthri and Melshanthi strictly following tantric traditions and Kerala temple rituals. The celebrations begin with special poojas including Ganapathi Homam, Usha Pooja, Angi Charthu Darshan, Nirapara offering and Devi Bhagavatha Parayanam. Each ritual is performed with deep devotion filling the temple atmosphere with spiritual energy and divine vibrations. Devotees also participate in Akhanda Nama Japam and various offerings seeking prosperity, protection and blessings.

Cultural programs form a major highlight of the Mahotsavam. Traditional art forms such as Kathakali, Ottanthullal, devotional music concerts and classical performances enrich the festive evenings. The temple premises resonate with devotional songs, drum beats and sacred chants creating a divine and celebratory ambiance. Annadanam is conducted as a sacred offering symbolizing compassion and unity among devotees. The grand procession is another magnificent feature of the festival. Accompanied by Panchavadyam, traditional percussion ensembles, decorated elephants, colorful floats and ritual performances, the procession reflects the grandeur of Kerala’s temple heritage. The Aarattu ceremony marks the spiritual culmination of the celebrations.
