Makara Bharani Mahotsavam for the Kollam Year 1201 is scheduled to be held on January 25, 26, and 27, 2026 (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday), corresponding to Makaram 11, 12, and 13. Kallikkadu Kavu Makara Bharani Mahotsavam 2026 festival ritualsThe festival will be conducted under the chief supervision of the temple Thantri, integrating Tantric and Kaulachara rituals, preserving the temple’s ancient spiritual traditions. Blessed by mythological sanctity and the abundant grace of nature, Kallikkadu Kavu has long been protected by visionary ancestors for the welfare, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment of the land. It is the collective responsibility of the present generation to safeguard this sacred grove without losing its original essence, ensuring well-being for future generations.Devotees firmly believe that Kallikkattu Amma, revered as the supreme embodiment of nature in Advaita philosophy, absorbs natural adversities to protect her devotees. Ritual offerings such as Poomudal, Guruthi, and Muttarukkal are believed to remove obstacles and fulfill sincere prayers, as affirmed by countless devotional experiences. Kallikkadu Kavu Mahotsavam, celebrated on Makara Bharani, is a spiritually significant annual festival dedicated to Kallikkattamma (Bhadrakali). The three-day festival in January 2026 includes powerful homams, Devi Bhagavata Parayanam, Pongala, Guruthi, cultural programs, and traditional temple rituals, attracting devotees from across regions.

First Day – January 25, 2026 (Sunday)
Makaram 11 – Revathi
The festival begins early morning with Kavu Unarthal followed by Ganapathi Homam, Sukritha Homam, Devi Bhagavata Parayanam, and Navaka Abhishekam. Evening rituals include Nada Thurakkal, Revathi Vilakku, Deeparadhana, Madan Oottu, Yogeeshwara Seva, Bhasmabhishekam, Yakshiyamma Pooppada, concluding with Nada Adakkal.

Second Day – January 26, 2026 (Monday)
Makaram 12 – Ashwathi
Morning rituals consist of Aghora Homam, Mahakalikahomam, and Devi Bhagavata Parayanam, followed by Annadanam (free meal) at noon. Evening features Samooha Naranga Vilakku, Kunkumabhishekam, Bhagavathi Seva, and a special classical dance presentation by Thiruvaikode Nritha Kalakshetra. The temple closes at night.

Third Day – January 27, 2026 (Tuesday)
Makaram 13 – Makara Bharani (Main Festival Day)
This is the most auspicious day, beginning with Ashtadravya Maha Ganapathi Homam, Maha Mrityunjaya Homam, and Trikala Bhagavathi Seva. Major rituals include Mahakalasha Abhishekam, Thampuran Pazhakkula Nivedyam, Samooha Pongala, Ashta Naga Pooja & Nagaroot, and Mahaguruthi for Kallikkattamma and 64 Parivara Devatas. The day concludes with Kazhcha Seeveli, Mangalaarathi, fireworks, and temple closure.

Special Offerings & Vazhipadu
Pongala, Muttarukkal (coconut breaking ritual) for various dosha remedies Guruthi, Padukka, Naranga Vilakku, Unniyappam Moodal, Pooppadal Detailed offerings for health, prosperity, marriage, education, business success, and dosha nivarana Annadanam & Donations. Devotees contribute generously by offering rice, groceries, vegetables, and sponsorships for Annadanam. Special acknowledgments are made to families and individuals offering one sack, half sack of rice, or oil offerings.
