The celebrations begin with the ceremonial flag hoisting which marks the official start of the festival period. Throughout the festival, devotees participate in special poojas, abhishekams and offerings dedicated to Lord Krishna seeking blessings for prosperity, health and happiness. One of the highlights of the festival is the Palpayasam Pongala, a ritual where devotees prepare a sweet rice pudding as an offering to the deity symbolizing devotion, gratitude and community participation.
