Uthram Thirunal Mahotsavam at Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, Kollam is one of the most revered and vibrant temple festivals in Kerala celebrated with deep devotion and traditional grandeur. This annual festival is dedicated to Lord Dharma Sastha who is worshipped as the protector of righteousness and the guardian of devotees well being.
The temple known for its spiritual significance and rich heritage becomes a hub of devotional activities, rituals, and cultural performances during the festival.
The festival is marked by a series of meticulously performed poojas and homams following traditional temple customs. Devotees participate in rituals such as Abhishekam, Archana, Usha Pooja and Koottamrityunjaya Homam seeking blessings for health, prosperity and relief from afflictions.
The highlight of the celebration is the Urul Ghossah Yatra and Thiruarattu procession accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Chenda Melam, Nadaswaram, Panchavadyam and other classical instruments. These processions move through the temple premises and nearby areas creating a vibrant and spiritual atmosphere.
