രോഹിണി മഹോത്സവം 2026 തിരു ആയർക്കാട് മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം | Rohini Mahotsavam 2026 Thiru Ayarkkad Maha Vishnu Kshetram Kollam
Rohini Mahotsavam is one of the most sacred and eagerly anticipated festivals at Thiru Ayarkkad Maha Vishnu Kshetram in Kollam. Celebrated with deep devotion and grandeur, this annual festival is a vibrant blend of spiritual rituals, traditional customs and cultural performances that bring together devotees from across the region.
The festival spans several days during which the temple comes alive with the divine presence of Lord Vishnu and a series of meticulously performed rituals that are believed to enhance the spiritual energy of the deity and the temple premises.
The festival begins with the purification of offerings and deities through Prasada Shuddhi Kriyas and Bimba Shuddhi Kriyas ensuring that all rituals are conducted in complete sanctity. The temple’s chief priest under whose guidance these ceremonies are performed leads the devotees through sacred recitations, homams, and poojas that highlight the rich Vedic traditions of the temple.
Special observances include Kalabhishekam, the ceremonial bathing of the deity and the annual Punar-Pratishta Varshikam, which re-consecrates the divine idol thereby reinforcing the temple’s spiritual vibrations.
Cultural programs form an integral part of the festival offering devotees a chance to witness traditional music, dance and folk performances that celebrate the local heritage. The festival also features processions such as Kettukazhcha where beautifully decorated effigies are paraded creating a magnificent spectacle. Devotees actively participate in recitations of sacred texts, such as Bhagavata Parayanam and evening Deeparadhana rituals that fill the temple with devotional fervor.
