കൊല്ലം, പുതിയകാവ് ദേവീക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ തിരു ആറാട്ടു മഹോത്സവം, മാർച്ച്-ഏപ്രിൽ (മീനം) മാസങ്ങളിൽ നടക്കുന്ന 8 ദിവസത്തെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവമാണ്, മഹത്തായ ഘോഷയാത്രകൾ, വിശുദ്ധ ആചാരങ്ങൾ, ഊർജ്ജസ്വലമായ സാംസ്കാരിക ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.

Puthiakavu Bhagavathy temple situates on the heart of Kollam town. It is a centuries old temple. Assumption is that the same Bhadrakali of Kalighat
at Calcutta worshiped by Sree Rama Krishna Paramahamsa and Vivekananda Swamy is sitting in this temple. Guruthy pooja is a main offering on all
Tuesday to Devi which give relief to all deceases attacks from rivals and attainment of wishes. Sub deities
are Sri Parameswara, Ganapathy, Durga, Sastha, Hanuman Swamy, Brahma rakshas,Yogeswaraswamy, Madan Thampuran, Navagrahas, Nagathans and poojas for all this deities are also done as per rules. Eight days festival is celebrated with all scientific rituals during month Meenam
andArattu on star Makam. This festival is done annually to increase the chaithanya (the vigour) of the deity.

The shrine is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights. There will be a flag hoisting ceremony marking the beginning of the festival. Traditional performing arts, music and dance are staged during the period. Caparisoned elephants, melam, fireworks and sheevali are part of the festival. There will be lot of cultural events and religious discourses.
