Lord Krishna is considered the eighth incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, according to Hindu belief. He descended to Earth to restore cosmic order (dharma) and protect the righteous.

The festival is characterized by the Vishu Kani, an auspicious arrangement of items symbolizing prosperity and abundance, and the Vishu Sadhya, a grand feast of traditional delicacies. Devotees also visit temples, offer prayers, and seek blessings for a prosperous year ahead.
