Maha Shivaratri
During Maha Shivaratri at Panamoodu Kudumba Mahadeva Temple in Paravur, Kollam, the festival is observed in the Malayalam month of Kumbham with a blend of rituals and vibrant devotional fervor. The celebrations commence with Thrikkodiyettu (flag hoisting), followed by the Shivapurana Parayanam—scriptural recitations that glorify Lord Shiva. Devotees prepare pongala offerings, participate in a temple procession (ezhunnallath), and perform special Abhishekam (ritual bathing of the deity), enhanced by the Pallivetta ritual symbolizing divine hunting, all culminating in an atmosphere of sacred excitement.
Vinayaka Chathurthi Maholsavam
Vinayaka Chathurthi Maholsavam at Panamoodu Kudumba Mahadeva Temple in Paravur, a grand Ashtadravya Maha Ganapathi Homam is performed, using eight sacred substances to invoke Lord Ganesha's blessings. The festival also includes special poojas, Unniyappam nivedyam, and traditional Neyyu Vilakku Samarppanam, where clarified butter lamps are offered to the Lord, creating a vibrant and devotional ambiance for devotees.
