The festival is marked by a series of meticulously performed poojas and rituals throughout the day. The morning begins with the Usha Pooja where the deity is worshipped with elaborate offerings of flowers, incense and lamps. Devotees participate in these rituals with great reverence, seeking blessings for prosperity, health and spiritual well being. The day continues with special mid-day poojas and the ceremonial lighting of the flower lamps creating a mesmerizing and serene atmosphere in the temple premises. A unique feature of Poovitta Vilakku is the evening cultural programs including traditional performances such as Thayambaka, a rhythmic percussion ensemble and Poorakkali, a vibrant folk dance performed in honor of the goddess.
