Pattu Mahotsavam is a vibrant festival celebrated during the Malayalam calendar month of Vrishchikam for 6 days at the Punnakkal Bhagavathi Temple in Ajanur. The presiding deity of the temple is the Mother Goddess popularly known as Punnakkal Bhagavathy.

The Mother is believed to have come from a place called Oliyolakkavu and manifested in her divine form at Ajanur. The festival celebrates the power of the Goddess and is a way of offering prayers and seeking her blessings. The temple is said to be over 400 years old.

The festival starts with a ritualistic ceremony called Deepavum Thiriyum Konduvaral from the adiyankoolom temple. The festival is an ensemble of various rituals and traditional ceremonies. The Poovum Ariyum Kodukka is one such unique ritual. Traditionally dressed little girls carrying decorated Thalams are a visual treat.
