This is one of the major temples in Payyanur town. The temple has more than 300 year old history. In this
temple Lord Vishnu is the main deity, Lord is manifested here as blessing Prahalada after killing mighty
demon Hiranyakashyapu.
Lekshmi, Ganapathy, Sasthavuare are the other sub deities. Legend says that 300 year before there existed a temple in this place but unfortunately it was destroyed due to family feud. Many years later this temple was reconstructed realizing that divine presence existed in this land.
Prathishtadina Mahotsavam 2025 | Edatt Sree Thrikkai Mahavishnu Temple Kannur
The Prathishtadina Mahotsavam festival of this temple falls in the Malayalam month of Makaram. It is a 3 days spectacular event. The temple premises are beautifully decorated with flowers and other illuminations. Lots of cultural activities like different dance forms, musical concerts, drama, devotional songs are staged during the festival days. Other than this spiritual discourses are also
there. Annadanam is offered to the devotees during the festival days.
