Kaliyattam Maholsavam 2026 at Mullikkode Tharavad Dharma Devasthanam in Kannur is one of the most anticipated traditional festivals in the region celebrating the rich heritage and vibrant rituals of Kerala’s Theyyam culture. The festival, scheduled for February 8–9, 2026 draws devotees and cultural enthusiasts from across the state and beyond.
It serves as an extraordinary platform to witness the spiritual and artistic grandeur of Theyyam performances which are an integral part of the temple’s ritual calendar.
The celebrations begin in the evening with the rhythmic beats of Thidangam setting the stage for an evening of spectacular Theyyam performances. The festival showcases revered Theyyakkolams such as Moovalankuzhi Chamundi, Chooliyar Bhagavathi, Vishnumoorthi and Thaipara Devatha along with other traditional performances like Sreebootham, Kurathiyamma, and Veeran. These performances are not only a visual delight but also a deeply spiritual experience believed to invoke the divine presence and blessings of the deities.
On the following day, from the morning hours devotees can witness a series of ritualistic Theyyakkolams including Chooliyar Bhagavathi, Moovalankuzhi Chamundi, Vishnumoorthi, Kundor Chamundi, Thaipara Devatha and Gulikan. Each performance is accompanied by traditional music, elaborate costumes and intricate face painting, creating an atmosphere filled with devotion and cultural richness. The festival also features Annadanam, a community feast offered to devotees which is a hallmark of Kerala temple festivals.
