Ayilyam Utsavam refers to the festival celebrated on Ayilyam asterism in the Malayalam calendar month of Dhanu and dedicated to the Serpent God also known as Naga. Naga is the presiding deity at the temple presently managed by the Karippal family and hence the name Karippal Naga Temple. A local committee is also formed for the smooth functioning of temple. The festival is marked by performances of the Nagarajavu and Nagakanni Theyyams.
