Sree Theraramba Mahadeva Temple Kannur

Kodiyettu Maholsavam

Kodiyettu Maholsavam at Sree Theraramba Mahadeva Kshethram marks the auspicious start of the festival with the Kodiyettu (flag hoisting) ceremony, followed by the colorful Ghoshayatra, a vibrant temple procession filled with music and devotional fervor. Key rituals include the Mahamrityunjaya Homam for courage and longevity, the Sarppabali to appease serpent deities, and the spiritually cleansing Arattu (holy bath) ceremony—bringing the festival to a sacred and celebratory close.

Mahashivaratri

Mahashivaratri is observed with great devotion and traditional fervor. The day includes Akhandanamajapam (continuous chanting of Shiva mantras), special poojas, Niramala, and Deeparadhana. Devotees gather to seek Lord Shiva's blessings and participate in the spiritually charged atmosphere throughout the night.
