Sivaratri
Sivaratri, also known as Maha Shivaratri, is a sacred Hindu festival celebrated in reverence of Lord Shiva. It falls on the 14th night of the dark fortnight in the Hindu lunar month of Phalguna (February or March). Devotees observe fasting, perform rituals, and stay awake all night, engaging in prayers and meditation to honor Lord Shiva and seek His blessings for spiritual growth, liberation from ignorance, and the removal of obstacles on their path to enlightenment.
Mrityunjaya Homam
The Mrityunjaya Homam performed at the Kottayatt Sivaparvathi Temple in Edakkad, Kannur, is a sacred ritual dedicated to Lord Siva, the conqueror of death. Devotees participate in this homam to seek protection from illness, accidents, and untimely death, invoking the divine blessings of Lord Siva for longevity, health, and well-being.
