Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Kodiyettu Maholsavam
Kodiyettu Maholsavam usually begins in the month of Kumbham (February-March). It starts with the Kodiyett ceremony, where the festival flag is hoisted at the temple's flagstaff, invoking auspicious beginnings. The festival also features Arattu (the holy bath of the deity), a symbolic Pallivetta, and Kalavara Nirakkal, a preparatory ritual marking the culmination of the festivities. Throughout the event, priests perform special poojas and homams (fire rituals) to invoke divine blessings and cleanse the surroundings energetically.
Navaratri Maholsavam
Navaratri Maholsavam here is celebrated with great devotion over nine days, honoring Goddess Durga and her various forms. The festival includes special poojas, grandha pooja (veneration of Books), vidyarambham (initiation into learning for children), and vaahana pooja (rituals for vehicles). These rituals symbolize the triumph of knowledge and righteousness, drawing large numbers of devotees.
