Thalapoli Mahotsavam
Thalapoli Maholsavam at Kanacheri Sree Kurumba Bhagavathi Temple is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Kumbham with vibrant devotion. The festival features the traditional Thalapoli procession—where women carry beautifully decorated plates filled with rice, flowers, and lamps—and includes special poojas, Deeparadhana, and devotional chants that create a deeply spiritual and festive atmosphere.
Pongala
Pongala is a sacred ritual, predominantly conducted by women, in which devotees cook a sweet rice porridge made of rice, jaggery, coconut, and plantains in earthen vessels. This offering, believed to invoke the divine blessings of the Goddess, begins at an auspicious moment when the temple priest lights the main hearth, and spreads across roads and pathways as women prepare the dish in neat rows a powerful symbol of devotion.
