The main deity of the temple is Lord Mahavishnu, who is worshipped in the form of a murti installed in the sanctum sanctorum (sreekovil) of the temple.
Lord Vishnu is revered as the preserver and protector in Hinduism, and devotees offer prayers and rituals to seek his blessings for prosperity, peace, and well-being.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Kalavara Nirakkal
The festival commences with the Kalavara Nirakkal ceremony, where the temple storehouse is filled with grains, vegetables, and other essential items sourced from various regions. These provisions are utilized to prepare food for devotees throughout the festival days, symbolizing communal sharing and abundance. The Kalavara Nirakkal tradition underscores the spirit of generosity, hospitality, and unity as devotees come together to celebrate and partake in the festivities.
Bhagavatha Sapthaha Yajnyam
The Bhagavatha Sapthaha Yajnyam, observed during the Aradhana Maholsavam in Vrishikam, is a sacred seven-day ritual in Kerala. Devotees gather to hear the recitation and exposition of the Srimad Bhagavatham, a revered Hindu scripture, by learned scholars or priests. Through this ritual, participants seek spiritual wisdom, divine blessings, and a deeper connection to the teachings of Lord Krishna.
