The festival starts with Skanda fasting. Main events of the festival are Skanda Shashti celebration, Lekshanarcha and Thirukalyanam.

5 days of skanda shasti celebrations and Lekshanarcha are held. During these days, devotees recite various inspiring hymns and read stories connected with Lord Subramanya. Laksharchana means "chanting and glorifying the Divine name". Final day the main event called Thirukalyanam takes place. This ritual is done in the remembrance of the marriage of Lord Subramanian with his wife Devayani by the permission of Lord Skanda and Lord Siva.

Skanda shashti Uthsavam is an annual Hindu festival celebrated for a period of 8 days. Shasti fasting is been observed. The festival starts from the next day of Deepavali. Skanda Shasti is Prostrations and humble salutations to Lord Subramanya, the Supreme Being, who is the ruler of this universe, who is the indwellers of our hearts, who is the second son of Lord Siva, who is the beloved of Valli and Deivayanai, who bestows boons easily on his devotees, who is the embodiment of power, wisdom, love and bliss. The temple is one of the top temples in Munnar, built 200 years before. The tribals (Muthavanmar) started the temple but still they come to worship and they are given more importance in the temple.
