The Meenappoora Mahotsavam is an annual festival conducted to celebrate the divine presence of the Goddess in the temple.The legend says that the festival is conducted in the Malayalam month of Meenam during the Pooram asterism on which the Goddess Bhadrakali killed Asura named Daruka (demon) who was making trouble to all the life's in the world.
It is believed that the Goddess Bhadrakali was emerged from the third eye of Lord Shiva.

The festival starts with flag hoisting ceremony(Kodiyettu) on Makayeeram star of Meenam month. From the first day onwards events such as Ganapathi Homam, Ethritha Pooja, Deeparadhana, Prasada Oottu, Sopana Sangeetham etc are held there. From the next day onwards there is Mudiyettu which lasts till the sunrise. Events such as Garudan Thookkam, Kumbhakuda Khoshayathra, Ponkala along with fire works make the festival spectacular.
