The Meenapoora Mahothsavam is an annual festival conducted in the ancient and famous Purappuzha Puthuchirakkavu Devi Temple to celebrate the birthday of Goddess which falls on Pooram asterism of the malayalam month Meenam.
The main deity of the temple is Goddess Bhadrakali who was created by Lord Shiva from his third eye inorder to destroy and kill Darika, a demon who was causing troubles in the world.

The festival starts with Mudiyettu in which the idol of the Goddess is taken out for procession. Thalapoli, Kumbhakuda Khoshyathra, percussion music etc are held during the festival. On the last of the festival, events like Pooram Ethirelppu, Garudan Thookkam etc are conducted and the festival ends with Prasada Oottu.
