The presiding deity, Lord Krishna, is worshipped in the form of Dhanvantari in this ancient temple. Surrounding the temple is the sacred Oushadha Vana, a forest abundant with medicinal plants and trees, adding to the spiritual ambiance of the site.
. Additionally, the temple complex includes four other shrines dedicated to Lord Krishna, built by the Pandavas, collectively known as Anchambalam in Malayalam. It is a place steeped in legend and tradition, believed to be guarded by Vana Durga, offering devotees a serene and spiritually uplifting experience amidst nature's bounty.

Oushadha Seva
Oushadha Seva is a sacred ritual practiced at the Sree Krishna Swamy Temple in Edavetty near Thodupuzha, Kerala. Once a year, devotees partake in this ritual by consuming Oushadha, a wonderful ancient Ayurvedic medicinal paste, within the temple premises. The medicine is served on the leaves of the Banyan tree, and participants are instructed to recite prayers chanted by Acharyas while facing the North side of Nalambalam, the temple's inner sanctum.
Krishna Janmashtami
Janmashtami, the celebration of Lord Krishna's birth, is marked by fasting, prayers, and singing. Temples are adorned with lights, and idols of Krishna are dressed in new attire. At midnight, devotees gather for special rituals, symbolized by breaking pots filled with butter or yogurt, honoring Krishna's playful spirit and teachings of love and devotion.
