Uthram Thirunal and Lakshmi Narayana Vilakku is one of the most spiritually significant annual festivals celebrated at the revered Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple in Tripunithura, Ernakulam. Dedicated to Lord Sree Poornathrayeesa, worshipped as the Deshanathan and Santana Gopala Moorthy, this sacred occasion draws thousands of devotees who gather to seek divine blessings, prosperity, and spiritual fulfillment. In connection with the Uthram Mahotsavam, the Sree Poornathrayeesa Sangeetholsavam will be conducted daily in the evenings from 28 February 2026 to 04 March 2026 adding a rich devotional and cultural dimension to the celebrations.
The festival is observed with elaborate rituals, traditional temple customs and a series of cultural and devotional programs that reflect the rich heritage of Kerala temple traditions. A major highlight associated with the celebrations is the Sree Poornathrayeesa Sangeetholsavam conducted over several days in the evenings leading up to the main festival day. Renowned classical musicians and artists participate in this music festival offering devotional renditions that create a deeply spiritual atmosphere within the temple premises.
On the Uthram Thirunal day, the temple comes alive from the early hours of the morning with the resonant sounds of traditional instruments such as Nadaswaram and temple percussion. Rituals are performed with great devotion followed by the famous Uthram Sadhya, a grand ceremonial feast offered to devotees as a sacred blessing. The Pancharatna Keerthana Alapanam rendered by eminent musicians stands as a major spiritual and cultural attraction of the festival.
As the day progresses, traditional art forms such as Panchari Melam and Thayambaka fill the temple surroundings with rhythmic energy. In the evening, devotional music concerts further enhance the festive mood drawing devotees into collective prayer and reverence.
