Thalappoli Mahotsavam 2026 at the Sree Kumbalath Bhagavathy Temple will be celebrated from 21 to 24 March 2026 (Meenam 7–10) with traditional rituals, Thalappoli procession, cultural programs and special temple ceremonies.

The Thalappoli Mahotsavam at Sree Kumbalath Bhagavathy Temple in Kayantikkara, Ernakulam, is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich temple festivals in Kerala. Dedicated to the Goddess Bhagavathy, this festival is a beautiful blend of devotion, tradition and community celebration drawing devotees and visitors from across the region. In addition to the Thalappoli procession, the festival features a wide range of temple rituals, including special poojas, Kalashabhishekam and other ceremonial worship conducted under the guidance of experienced priests.

The sacred Narayaneeyam recitals and devotional music add a profound spiritual dimension captivating the hearts of devotees and creating a serene atmosphere within the temple premises. Another highlight is Kaikottikali, the traditional women’s group dance performed in vibrant attire which showcases the cultural heritage and festive spirit of Kerala. The festival also includes Kalamezhuthu Pattu, a unique ritual art form in which intricate designs of the deity are drawn on the floor using colored powders followed by devotional songs and offerings. Cultural programs and musical evenings are organized as part of the celebration providing a platform for local artists and musicians to perform and engage with the community.
