Maha Shivaratri 2026 at Shakthiroopena Adhiparashakthi Temple, Ernakulam is a highly revered spiritual festival that brings together devotees from across Kerala to celebrate the glory of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parashakti.
The temple known for its serene atmosphere and divine presence becomes a vibrant hub of devotion and ritualistic splendor during this festival.
The celebrations begin early in the morning with Ganapathi Homam, a sacred fire ritual invoking Lord Ganesha’s blessings for the smooth conduct of the festival. Devotees then participate in Ushapooja followed by the chanting of Sri Rudram, a powerful Vedic hymn praising Lord Shiva performed meticulously by priests and organized by Satyasai Seva Organization, Aluva.
The morning rituals continue with the Ashtabhishekam and Uchapooja where sacred substances like water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugarcane juice, black sesame and Ashtagandha water are offered to the deity symbolizing purification and devotion.
In the evening, the temple hosts Deepaaradhana, a mesmerizing lamp worship followed by Thiruvathirakali, a traditional dance performed by women in honor of the Goddess. Devotional bhajans are performed by the temple team creating a spiritually uplifting environment for all devotees. The festival concludes with special Abhishekam and Pooja in the night, offering milk, ghee, Panchagavya, black sesame and Navakum to the deity signifying prosperity and divine blessings.
