Sri Ramanavami Agosham at Sree Datta Anjaneya Temple, Ernakulam is one of the most spiritually enriching and vibrant celebrations in the region. This festival honors the divine birth of Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and draws devotees from across Kerala and beyond to participate in the devotional festivities.
The temple dedicated to Lord Anjaneya provides a serene and sacred environment for worshipers to immerse themselves in devotion and ritual observances.
The celebrations begin early in the morning with Suprabhata Seva, a ritual awakening of the deity with devotional hymns and chants setting a peaceful and auspicious tone for the day. This is followed by the Mantrasooktha Homam, a sacred fire ritual performed by learned priests to invoke divine blessings and spiritual purification for the devotees.
The highlight of the festival is the Sri Sita-Rama-Lakshmana Pooja, an elaborate ceremonial worship of Lord Rama along with Goddess Sita and Lord Lakshmana accompanied by chanting of Vedic mantras, devotional songs and offerings by devotees.
Special offerings and rituals, including the Coconut Pooja, allow devotees to present their prayers and seek blessings for prosperity, health and well being. The temple premises are adorned with traditional decorations creating a festive and uplifting atmosphere. Devotees also have the opportunity to witness cultural programs, spiritual discourses and musical performances that enhance the devotional experience.
