Thiruvutsavam at Pallimattathu Bhagavathi Temple in Ernakulam is one of the most anticipated annual festivals in the region attracting devotees and visitors from across Kerala and beyond.
The festival begins with Thrikodiyettu, the ceremonial flag hoisting which signifies the official commencement of the festivities. Devotees gather in large numbers to witness this auspicious event offering prayers and participating in the initial rituals to seek blessings from the Goddess Bhagavathi. Over the following days, special poojas and offerings are conducted daily creating a spiritually charged atmosphere around the temple premises.
One of the highlights of the festival is Valiyavilakku, the grand lamp ceremony which is performed with great devotion on February 22. The illumination of numerous traditional lamps around the temple premises creates a mesmerizing spectacle symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness.
