Cheruvattur Themamkuzhy Mahadeva Temple, one of the rare west-facing Shiva temples in Kerala will celebrate Maha Shivaratri & Kalashabhishekam 2026 with grandeur and devotion from 13th to 15th February. This sacred festival draws devotees from across Ernakulam and nearby regions offering a unique spiritual experience in the tranquil temple surroundings.
The temple is renowned for its serene atmosphere, traditional Kerala architecture and the sanctity of its rituals, making it a preferred destination for devotees seeking blessings from Lord Shiva.
The festivities begin on 13th February with the ceremonial opening of the temple in the evening followed by Prasadashuddhi, Vastra Kalasha Pooja, Rakshoghna Homam, Vastu Homam, Vastu Kalasha Pooja, Vastu Kalasha Abhishekam and Vastubali. These rituals are performed with precise traditional protocols invoking divine energy and blessings for prosperity, peace and protection.
On 14th February, the temple opens early morning for Ganapathi Homam followed by regular poojas and the special Kalashabhishekam ceremonies involving multiple sacred pots. The rituals include Chatushuddhi, Dhara, Panchagavya and Panchakam symbolizing purification, abundance and spiritual elevation. The Kalashabhishekam during this time holds special significance for devotees offering a unique opportunity for darshan and participation in sacred rites.
The final day, 15th February features early morning rituals and culminates in a grand Kalashabhishekam led by the temple’s chief priest, Brahmashri Puliyannur Dileepan Namboothiripad. The day continues with Ucha pooja, prasada distribution and concludes with a special evening Deeparadhana illuminating the temple with devotional lamps.
