The Shivaratri Mahotsavam 2026 at Ernakulam Shiva Temple is one of the most anticipated spiritual events in Kerala, attracting devotees from across the state and beyond.The temple and its advisory committee along with the Cochin Devaswom Board organize this grand event ensuring a spiritually enriching experience for all visitors.
The festival features a meticulously planned schedule of religious ceremonies starting with the inauguration of cultural programs followed by Thiruvathirakali, a traditional Kerala dance and devotional bhajans performed by renowned groups. Early morning rituals include Abhishekam, Nirmalya Darshan and Malar Nivedyam offering devotees an opportunity to witness the sacred rites and participate in the worship.
Special ceremonies such as 1101 Kudam Abhishekam and Karikkabhishekam are performed with devotion and grandeur symbolizing purification, prosperity and divine blessings.
In addition to the rituals, the festival highlights Kathakali performances, traditional Kerala percussion ensembles devotional music concerts and spiritual lectures on sacred texts like Shiv Ashtothara Shatam allowing devotees to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. Special arrangements are made for devotees observing fasts with Ushapooja, Nivedyam and distribution of prasadam throughout the day.
