Anchumana temple is situated at Anchumana, Padivattom Kara in Edappilly very near to Cochin Bye
pass of NH 47 in Cochin Corporation. This temple stands ahead among other holy shrines of its kind as it
has very attractive peculiarities pertaining to the various deities worshipped here. Main deities, vibrant with spiritual power that exerts an enriching influence both on material and spiritual levels of devotees, are Sree Bhuvaneswary, Sree Annapurneswary and Sree Bhadrakali, absolutely a rare combination not observed else where. Sree Bhuvaneswary devi, Mother of the Universe blesses her children with prosperity and protection.
Sree Annapurneswary devi, Deergha Sumangala Varadayani, provides samrudhi (abundance) and showers her blessings for very long happy married life. Sree Bhadrakali devi protects her devotees from evil forces. This temple originally belonged to an ancient Namboothiry family.On the verge of their decline, the ownership of the temple was handed over to the Viswakarma society in the past.
Now the temple is owned and administered by a trustee of Anchumana Viswakarma Dharmodharana Samajam (A VD Samajam) with 22 branches, in Ernakulam, Kottayam and Alapuzha districts. The other deities worshipped here are Sree Ganapathy, Sree Ayyappa, Sree Subrahmanya, Nagadevathas, Sree Guru, Sree Hidumba swamy, Sree Hanuman swamy, Sree Brahmarakshas Sree Khandakarana swamy and Arukola. Different kinds of offerings are received in the temple. Vivahasooktha Pushpanjali is performed on every Monday before Sree Annapurneswary to discard all obstacles for the marriage of Kanyakas.
Guruthi Pushpanjali is conducted on all Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays as a panacea for those devotees who face innumerable problems on the way of their day-to-day life. Very positive results are being observed by conducting this Pushapanjali, to have a very smooth and happy life with good spirit, health and wealth. "NIRA" adorned with 'Dasapushpa' and'Samrudhavriksha' leaves is distributed among devotees on the first day of 'Chingam', the beginning of new Malayalam year as a symbol of blessings from the goddess for riches, prosperity, wealth and happiness throughout the year.
Mass prayer is a whole hearted offering, conducted before Sree Bhuvaneswary devi every Friday evening, participated by devotees. It is believed that nowhere else such a mass prayer is being conducted regularly. Sree Lalitha Sahasranama sthothram is chanted every Tuesday and Friday following Usha pooja, participated by a large mass of devotees. Brahmasree Puliyannur Sasi Namboothiripad is the Thanthri' (chief priest) of the temple. Thanthri pooja is conducted every last Tuesday of the month by the chief priest. Navarathi is celebrated in this temple with due significance.
Books of all students are kept before Saraswathy, the Vagdevatha for pooja. Children of all cast and creed are allowed to initiate in to the study of alphabet on Vijaya Dasami day (Ezuthiniruthu). Sree Bhuvaneswari sets out to the neighbouring villages and territories to visit her children and render her blessings during 'Parayeduppu' for 41 days starting from the 1'1 of Vrischikam, of which the last 5 days are celebrated as Thalappoli Maholsavam.On the last day of this festival the temple is closed for 7 days and the normal poojas are resumed with special pooja before Sree Khandakarna swamy. During the auspicious 41 days ofMandalakaala, mandalapooja is conducted. During the mOlJth ofKumbha "Angurathy" festival related to sree Bhuvanaswary is calibrated. Thaipooya festival is celebrated in connection with the birth star of Sree Subhramanya.

Para Purappadu is the main event here. It falls on first day of Vrischikam. It is believed that bhagavathy in the form of Sree Bhuvaneswari visits her devotees. Devotees welcome devi with "para" which may be full of paddy, flowers, fruits as customs. This event end with Thalapoli Mashothsavam
which lasts five days 1st day of Chingam month is special here. Panchari Melam or Panchari, a percussion ensemble, one of the major forms of Chenda Melam (Ethnic drum ensemble), the best-known and most popular Kshetram Vadyam (Temple Percussion) genre, performed during temple festivals in Kerala. Thalappoli is a unique ritual in Kerala. In the ritual, women and young girls carry thalam (plate) in their hands. Thalam is filled with rice, flowers and a lighted lamp. It is a symbol of prosperity. The
elephants parade with percussion music, a world famous temple festival in Kerala. The elephants are decorated with gold plated Caparisons (Nettipattam), Bells (Mani), and Necklaces.
