The festival includes special rituals such as Ganapathi Homam, Dhara, Deeparadhana, and Prasadam Oottu. Ramayana Maasam Acharanam
During the month of Karkkidakam, known as Ramayana Maasam, the Velloorkunnam Mahadeva Temple observes special rituals and readings of the Ramayana. Oushada Kanji, a medicinal porridge, is distributed to devotees for health and well-being, and Oushada Seva is performed to seek divine healing. Additionally, Karkkidaka Vaavu Bali Tharppanam, a ritual offering for the ancestors, is conducted to honor and appease departed souls.
