The temple enshrines Goddess Bhadrakali, worshipped in her self originated (Swayambhu) form, alongside subsidiary deities such as Ganapathy, Sastha (Ayyappa), Nagayakshi, Nagadevas, Raktheswari, and Krishna. It is one of the rare shrines in Kerala featuring a consecrated Sree Chakra. Ritual duties are traditionally managed by the revered Aarazhi Parappurath Mana, and the local community of 18 surrounding areas share special rights in temple governance. Daily worship includes morning and evening poojas overseen by hereditary priests.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Thrikkarthika Vilakku
Held in Kumbham (February–March) on the Karthika star day, this festival features the lighting of traditional oil lamps (vilakku), special poojas, and floral offerings to honor the Goddess, illuminating the temple premises with serene devotion.
Annual festival
Celebrated in Meenam (March–April), the Pooram festival is the most significant annual event here. It begins with Kodiyettam (flag-hoisting), followed by Sree Chakra Pooja, Kalamezhuthum Pattum (ritual floor art with songs), Sarppabali (serpent offerings), and vibrant cultural performances. The festivities bring together families from the region in collective devotion.
