Koothattukulam Mahadeva Temple Ernakulam

Koothattukulam Mahadeva Temple, located near the town of Koothattukulam in Ernakulam district, Kerala, is one of the prominent Shiva temples in central Kerala.

The temple houses a rare and unique idol where Lord Shiva is accompanied by Parvati, Ganapathi, and Subramanya, and is believed to be over a thousand years old.

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :

Vinayaka Chathurthi

During Chingam month, the Vinayaka Chathurthi festival at the temple begins with a sacred Ganapathi Homam to invoke blessings from Lord Ganesha. Devotees then perform Kalabham Charthu followed by Deeparadhana, illuminating the shrine with lamps and prayers.

Navaratri

During Navaratri, the temple observes Saraswathy Pooja with great devotion, honoring the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. Grandha Pooja (veneration of books) and Vidyarambham (initiation into learning) are important rituals, attracting devotees and children seeking blessings for education and intellect.
