The Vishu Nirapara Mahotsavam is one of the most auspicious and widely celebrated festivals at Sree Kurattissery Bhagavati Temple in Alappuzha. Held annually with great devotion, this festival marks the beginning of the Malayalam New Year and is an occasion for devotees to seek the blessings of the Goddess Bhagavati for prosperity, health and happiness. The festival is renowned for its vibrant rituals, traditional offerings and the deep spiritual significance associated with the Vishu celebrations. Central to the festival is the offering of the Nirapara, a symbolic arrangement of rice, auspicious items and other sacred materials presented before the Goddess as a mark of devotion. Devotees gather in large numbers to participate in this unique ritual which is believed to invoke the divine blessings of the Goddess ensuring abundance and well being for the year ahead. The temple sanctum is beautifully adorned for the occasion creating a serene and spiritual ambiance that enhances the devotion of the attendees.

In addition to the Nirapara offering, devotees can witness Vishukkani, the traditional arrangement of auspicious items viewed at the break of dawn which is considered highly propitious. The festival also includes other significant rituals such as Ganapathi Homam, Abhishekam and Deepaaradhana all performed with strict adherence to age-old traditions.
