The Thiruvutsavam at Major Vettikkulangara Devi Temple in Alappuzha is one of the most revered and vibrant temple festivals in Kerala drawing devotees and visitors from across the state. During the festival, the temple premises come alive with a series of ceremonial rituals including the sacred Prabhatabheri, Nirmalya Darshan and Ashtabhishekam, which are conducted with meticulous devotion.
The procession of Aarattu is one of the main highlights accompanied by traditional musical ensembles like Panchari Melam, Chenda Melam, and Nagaswaram, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere of rhythm and devotion. Local cultural troupes perform classical and folk art forms such as Ottan Thullal, Velakali and Sopanam Sangeetham offering a glimpse into Kerala’s rich performing arts heritage.
