ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം, പുതിയിടം, ആലപ്പുഴയിൽ ഡിസംബർ-ജനുവരി (മലയാള മാസം ധനു) മാസങ്ങളിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന 10 ദിവസത്തെ വാർഷിക മഹോത്സവമാണ് ദശദിന മഹോത്സവം.

This is one of the oldest temples in Kayamkulam, which exists even at the time of royal period. This
temple is one among the major Krishna temples built by the Kayamkulam king. The temple which is under
the Travancore Devasom Board, faces towards the west and is situated in the Kayamkulam town.
The
Sreekovil is in circular shape and its idol is peculiar because it has Chathur Bhahukal (Four Hands). The
other deities in the temple include Lord Siva, Lord Ganapathy, Lord Ayyappa and Lord Subrahmanya with
his consorts Valli-Devayani. The other features of the temple are Namaskara Mandapam, Nalambalam,
Thidappally, Balikalpura, Sadyalayam and Aanapanthal. Annual festival of this temple is observed in
December/January (Malayalam month of Dhanu). Annual festival is observed in order to increase the
vigor of the deity.

The annual festival is observed in the Malayalam month of
Dhanu (December/January). There is a flag hoisting
ceremony marking the beginning of the festival. The shrine
is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves,
flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights.
There are
special poojas and offerings during the festival period.
Dashavatharam Charthal is a unique ceremony performed in
this temple during the festival time. Lord is decorated in
Dashavathara forms ie.ten different forms. Also annadanam
is held on all days. Traditional performing arts and music
and dance are staged during the festival period. Thousands
of devotees throng to witness the events and rituals.
Numerous cultural programs and temple arts are performed
along with religious discourses on all days of the festival.
Caparisoned elephants, melam, fireworks and sheevali are
part of the festival. On the final day Aanayoottu(feeding of
elephants) is there which attracts many, after that Arattu
ceremony starts where the utsava murti of the deity is taken
out of the shrine for ritual bathing on the final day.
