Parayeduppu Mahotsavam is one of the most cherished and traditional festivals celebrated at Muttakkulam Devi Temple in Alappuzha, Kerala. The celebrations begin with the ceremonial hoisting of the festival flag marking the official start of the Mahotsavam. During this period, the deity is taken out in a grand procession called Parayeduppu where the goddess visits the homes of devotees in the surrounding villages. This unique tradition allows devotees to offer prayers and receive divine blessings in an intimate and personal manner strengthening the bond between the community and the temple.
Throughout the festival, the temple premises are vibrant with devotional music, traditional percussion performances, and folk arts.
