Pallippana Mahotsavam | Ambalappuzha Sree Krishna Swamy Temple Alappuzha
According to traditional belief, the presiding deity may also be affected by certain ritual impurities similar to those experienced by humans. If the idol is afflicted by impurities such as defects of the tongue or eye, it is believed that the divine energy may diminish.
To counter these effects, the Pallippana and Dravya Kalasham rituals were introduced during the reign of the Chembakassery kings, accompanied by numerous ceremonial practices. The core rituals of Pallippana involve the chanting of Panapattu and Murottam, which are performed to dispel any impurities affecting the deity. The complete Pallippana sequence consists of 18 rituals conducted over 15 days. In 2026, the Pallippana will be observed from February 8 to 22, followed by the Dravya Kalasham from February 26 to March 5 within the temple premises. To ensure the auspicious conduct of these sacred ceremonies performed with the collective devotion and prayers of the community a large welcome committee has been constituted under the leadership of the Travancore Devaswom Board and the Temple Advisory Committee.
Devotees and temples from all regions are encouraged to participate and offer their support to these exceptional rituals at the Sree Krishna Swamy Temple, a spiritual center deeply rooted in the life of the local community. Each family is requested, in the name of Lord Krishna, to contribute offerings or donations needed for this grand yagna, which involves significant expenses, and to obtain officially approved coupons from the Travancore Devaswom Board to participate meaningfully in each ceremony.
