The Shrimad Devi Bhagavata Navaha Yajnam and Thiru Utsavam at Edayodikkavu Bhagavathi Temple is a grand spiritual and cultural celebration that draws devotees from across Kerala and beyond.
This sacred temple, renowned for its ancient traditions and divine presence, comes alive during this festival offering a perfect blend of devotion, rituals and communal harmony.
The festival begins with the Navaha Yajnam, a nine day sacred ritual rooted in the teachings of the Devi Bhagavata emphasizing devotion, knowledge and spiritual prosperity. During this yajnam devotees participate in daily poojas, homams and recitations of sacred scriptures under the guidance of experienced priests.
The ceremonies are designed to invoke the blessings of the goddess, ensuring the well-being and spiritual upliftment of all participants. The lighting of sacred lamps offering of flowers and food, and chanting of mantras create an atmosphere of divine energy and tranquility throughout the temple premises.
Following the Navaha Yajnam, the Thiru Utsavam marks the temple’s annual festival, a vibrant celebration of the deity and local culture. Devotees gather in large numbers to witness traditional rituals, processions and cultural performances including devotional music and dance. Special offerings like Nercha Pongal and other ceremonial acts highlight the community’s devotion and gratitude to the goddess.
